Amanda is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 10 years experience, having graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 1997. She specializes in working with pre-school and school aged children.
Amanda has extensive experience working within the NHS, having worked for both St Helens & Knowsley NHS Trust and Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust, providing services in schools, community clinics, nursery schools, and specialized speech and language classes. Most recently Amanda has been working in independent practice in Ontario Canada, again providing services in schools, clinics and in the home. Her roles within both the NHS and independent practice have given Amanda a wide understanding of the National Curriculum and statementing procedures, and vast experience of assessing, setting goals, report writing and providing direct and indirect therapy.
Amanda is experienced in working with children with delayed / disordered speech sound production, difficulties understanding or expressing language, social interaction difficulties, difficulties sitting and listening, dysfluent speech / stuttering and elective mutism. She is also experienced in working with children with Down's Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Specific Language Impairment and General Developmental Delays.

Amanda is trained in the Lidcombe Therapy Approach to Early Stuttering Intervention.

Amanda is a Certified Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, a Member of the Association of Speech & Language Therapists in Independent Practice, and is registered with the Health Professions Council.

Amanda stongly believes in collaborating with other professionals including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Teachers. She is happy to work in collaboration with any NHS Speech and Language Therapy services already in place. She also believes that therapy is a partnership between the therapist, the child and the parents.
